Duterte okays upgrading of Nueva Vizcaya hospital

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Oct. 9 (PIA) – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has approved the upgrading of Veterans Regional Hospital here.

Duterte signed into law Republic Act 11081 on September 28, 2018,  increasing the bed capacity of Veterans Regional Hospital from two hundred (200) to five hundred (500), upgrading its services, facilities and professional health care, authorizing the increase of its medical personnel, and changing its name to Region II Trauma and Medical Center.

Dr. Cirilo Galindez, VRH chief said the full transformation of the hospital will be done within three years based on the RA 11081.

“We are grateful for the approval of this law  from the House of Representatives, Senate and President Duterte. This will further improve health services that will benefit of our patients,” he said.

RA 11081 was authored and sponsored by Nueva Viscaya Representative Luisa Cuaresma in 2016.

Galindez said the  law will  enable them to accommodate patients from Nueva Vizcaya as well as those from neighboring provinces  in Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region(CAR).

He said, during peak season, more than 300 patients seek medical services from them.

“RA 11081 will also pave the way to increase medical personnel that will eventually result  in the fast and  efficient delivery of health services especially for the poor,” Galindez added. (By Benjamin Moses M. Ebreo, PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
